Anyone can create fundraising contest on Givecause.org. Individuals or businesses start by choosing something cool to give away in order to raise money for their favorite charity. All Give Cause contests are private, taking place between a contest host and their friends or fans on Facebook.
After a contest is created and approved the host needs to share it with their contacts, we take care of the rest until it's time to deliver the prize. When individuals contest hosts invite their friends, they are required to log into Facebook to verify that they are in deed friends. This allows contests to be social while remaining private. When businesses or celebrities create contests and share it with the world, participants are required to "like" your Facebook page first. This means you'll increase your fan base while raising money for a good cause - a win win!
That is up to you however the cooler it is the more money you'll raise for charity so make sure it's awesome.
Individuals might want to give away an extra ticket to a sold out concert or sporting event, collectables, or anything else you know your friends will love.
Businesses might want to give away a best selling product/service or early access to a new product. If you have any well know executives or spokes people, think about giving away the opportunity for an exclusive meeting.
Nonprofits can choose any prize they think their supporters would be interested in like the hottest electronic gadget or a free vacation. We encourage you to work with corporate sponsors or celebrity spokes people to choose the best prize possible.
Celebrities could raise money by giving away signed memorabilia or tickets to a special event.
You know your friends or fans best, get creative but chose wisely. The better the prize, the more money you'll raise for your favorite Charity!
Top Donor contests start when the host sets a minimum donation for the item that is to be given away, this represents the first donation a friend will need to make in for a chance to win the prize. After the first donation is made, friends will be able to donate any higher amount in order to win the item from the previous highest donor. The friend or fan that makes the highest donation (the top donor) wins the prize.
Raffles are more self-explanatory. The contest host sets the raffle ticket price and announce to contest to the world. Friends or fans can buy as many raffle tickets as they would like, each one representing a chance to win the prize. At the end of the raffle, we choose the winner at random and you deliver the prize.
Once a contest is completed and winner is selected we ask the winner to verify that the prize is delivered. As soon as we receive confirmation, we donate 90% of the funds collected to the charity selected by the host. 10% is kept to cover our operating expenses but since Give Cause is operated by a 501c3 nonprofit, all of the proceeds go to charity.
